Please Read The Notice Regarding Measles and Hepatitis A
We have a confirmed case of Measles as well as Hepatitis A in North Atlanta this week. Both of these vaccine preventable diseases are a threat to the health of our children and our community. Measles is highly contagious and spreads through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Hepatitis A is a contagious liver infection that can be spread when someone ingests the virus through eating contaminated food or drink or via person to person contact.
We are urging our patients and our community to make sure that they are up to date on their Measles and Hepatitis A vaccinations. Delaying vaccination dangerously affects the herd immunity of our community and puts children, adolescents and adults at increased risk of illness.
If you fear that your child has been exposed or might be sick with measles or Hepatitis A – please call to speak with our nurse in order that we can properly triage you and make sure that your child receives prompt care. Please refer to the resources that we are providing on how to protect your child during and outbreak.
