Commonly Asked Pediatric Questions
1WHAT IF MY CHILD’S IMMUNIZATIONS ARE NOT COVERED?
In the event you are uninsured or your insurance plan does not cover immunizations, your child can still receive vaccines. Our office participates in the Vaccines For Children program. This program is funded through the state of Georgia and is open for any one who is uninsured or under insured. Please notify the staff upon your arrival that you will need to participate in the VFC program.
2CAN MY CHILD BE SEEN WITHOUT MY BEING PRESENT?
All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. If a parent or guardian is unavailable, the child may be accompanied by another adult with written permission from the parent or guardian.
3WILL WE SEE ONLY ONE DOCTOR AT VICKERY PEDIATRICS?
We recommend that you pick one of our doctors as your child’s primary physician for continuity of care. One of the greatest advantages of a smaller practice is integrated care between providers and clear communication with patients so no matter who you see, be assured you will receive great care.
4CAN I WALK-IN FOR MY CHILD TO BE SEEN?
Our office is operated on an appointment basis. Walk-ins are strongly discouraged. In the event you walk-in, the next available appointment time slot will be given to your child, however scheduled appointments will be seen first.
5HOW DO I REFILL MY CHILD’S PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION?
We require a 48 hour notice on all routine prescription refills. You may notify us via phone or by accessing us through our patient portal. Please keep in mind that all prescriptions for controlled substances (such as Ritalin, Concerta and Adderall) must be picked up during normal office hours. Routine refills will not be called in on weekends and antibiotics will not be called in without a visit.
6WHAT DO I NEED TO DO ONCE MY BABY IS BORN?
Once you have been admitted to the hospital, let them know you have selected us as your baby’s pediatrician. Once your child is born, he/she will be examined by the Neonatologist on staff at the hospital. We then ask that you call our office so that we may schedule an appointment for your baby within 2-3 days of coming home from the hospital.
